Dear XXXX
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza and to urge you to advocate for immediate action from the Prime Minister. As First Minister John Swinney has stated, civilians are being starved, and innocent children are dying. It is imperative that we stop the killing and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in desperate need.
A recent YouGov poll has revealed that a significant majority of the British public shares this sentiment: 55% oppose the actions of Israel in Gaza, with 81% of those opposing considering it a genocide. The urgency of this situation is underscored by the strong public support for decisive measures, including:
- Trade embargoes, with a support margin of 48% to 20%
- Financial sanctions on individuals, favoured by 52% to 19%
- Suspending arms exports to Israel, backed by 57% compared to 18% opposition
These findings highlight a clear call from the public for our government to take action against this genocide. I urge you to communicate these concerns to the Prime Minister and emphasise the importance of enacting these measures to protect innocent lives and uphold our moral responsibility as a nation.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely
